We carried out alterations to the existing 11KV private ring main network to allow the installation of new HV transformers to supply two Grass Yarn Machines. Two LV switchboards were installed with separate incoming main switches, supplied from two individual transformers and were linked with a castell inter-locking bus-coupler. In the possible event of one of the transformers failing or requiring to be isolated for maintenance purposes the bus-coupler could be energised to allow both switchboards to be supplied from either one of the transformers. Multiple single core AWA cables were installed from the LV switchboards to the machine main control panels due to the large current carrying capacity required. Multi-core SWA, SY and CY cables were installed from control gear within the main control panels to local isolators, motors, start-stop units and emergency stop equipment throughout the machine lines.
